On Nov. 26th, 2014, Professor GaoMinglu gave a lecture “ On Methodology of Contemporary Art in China” in Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University. The audiences include students, faculties and artists from Tsinghua University and other institutions. The lecture prompted warm discussion with a quite lively academic atmosphere.
Professor GaoMinglu has been working on art theory for many years, especially on the methodology of Chinese art history and theory. In this lecture, he started from art phenomena in early 20thcentury China and thentalked about“rational painting”, “apartment art”, “maximalism” and other art groups and styles in China in the 1980s and 1990s. At last, he argued “Yi school” as his supported theory to examine Chinese art phenomena. By explaining profound theories in simple languages, the lecture was very successfulwith active commons and responses from the audiences.
