Yishu Prize in Chinese Contemporary Art Criticism Award Ceremony and Forum |
On September 10th, 2010, the “1st Yishu Prize in Chinese Contemporary Art Criticism” Award Ceremony and Forum was held at the Xi’an Art Museum, Shanxi, China. Chinese curator and critic Dr. Sheng Wei and American curator and critic Dr. Maya Kovskaya received the prize. More than 10 scholars from Canada, United States,Chinese Taiwan and mainland China were invited to the ceremony and about 500 art school teachers and students and art enthusiasts attended the event.
“Yishu Prize in Chinese Contemporary Art Criticism” is an annual award initiated by Yishu: Journal of Contemporary Art in Canada and was co-hosted by Canadian Foundation for Asian Art, Xi’an Art Museum and Xi’an Qujiang Management Committee. The mission of the prize is to get attention and support to Chinese contemporary art criticism from the art world and the general public. Each year the editing committee of Yishu invites two internationally renowned professionals and scholars as judges of the prize. The 2010 judges were Dr. Gao Minglu from the University of Pittsburgh and American Art Critic Mrs. Britta Erickson.
